Special MKH Ride Update

A few crankies featured in Sunday for the 1st ever event where fast mountain bikers were invited to join a shorter version of regular sunday Kulim road ride. Overall 53 riders turned out with 31 road bikes and 22 mountain biker groups coming from Penang, Kulim and also 4 from Cameron Highlands. The route was from Kulim to Selama to Air Putih and back to Kulim via Taman Selasih. Total distance recorded in our bike ~100km as we departed from Mr. Barrack’s house. The route was pretty challenging as we have to climb a few hills along the way. The overall pace was manageable where ranging between 30-38kmh. All of us managed to complete the ride and think it is fun to ride with other mtb riders and roadies. We certainly look forward for similar ride in coming future. Thanks MKH for organizing the event.

Sunday May 17 Ride - AID to nowhere...

Most of us arrived at the assembly area before 7.30am, but as usual, there were a couple of latecomers. Anyway, we departed the carpark beside the coffee shop around 7.45am. Before the start, we saw Yeap's secret admiree, the Pink Girlie. There were around 21 of us, including Danny Khaw, Pak Man, and some folks from Sg. Ara, who were supposed to be our guide. Alberto received a call from Ms Pink Girlie about 5 min into our ride and was told that Edmundo didn't switch off his Ferrari's headlights, and both had to cycle down to turn it off.
We waited for them and took some photograghs by the beautiful Air Itam Dam. On the way up to Hilton, all of us saw a huge blue/green colored scorpion. I'm pretty sure I could cycle uphill faster than DK if that bugger would have stung me. Not much happenings from the AID to Hilton, except that Ah Boon, as usual, liked to show off his skills and nearly fell. Someone forgot to inform Lim Guan Eng to clear the trail cos there were so many fallen trees blocking our way. Aparah....jalanraya pun tarak jaga, itu jalan dalam hutan, pokok jatuh pun tak mau kasi clear.....hehehe!
We waited for the rest of the team to catch up at the Hilton. While waiting, we met a couple of guys from KOTRT, including my man Adrian the Stud. After everyone has reached and taken some rest, we decided to head for Balik Pulau, thru the Mint Leave Garden and Iron Cross. However, upon passing thru the MLG, we realised that some folks were left behind. DK and a couple of guys tracked back and it turned out that Mr Senyum has used the wrong route and disappeared (must have quietly detoured and followed some chicks home.....). We waited and waited, and everyone got frustrated and mau balik lah.....so all decided to cycle back to Hilton and then downhill all the way to AID.
We had our breakfast at the Air Itam wet market and some of us took 2-3 plates of noodles to drown our sorrows for such a short ride on a nice Sunday morning. A number of the guys decided to head to Botanical Garden to check out the 4x4 road up to Penang Hill....not too sure whether they made it after whacking wan tan me, hokkien mee, mamak mee earlier.

Pantai Merdeka Ride- Update

It was our 3rd attempt to make >100km ride. It should be on Sunday but got pushed to Monday. 10 persons, 4 hours, 110km. Bullet, Cannon, Fuji, Rocket, Smile, Al@n, Louie, PC and special guest Md Nor all joined the ride. It should be a simple ride since it is flat road. But, it turns out to be quite a tough one. On the way to PM, we did a few stops as we are not sure on which route since there are few routes. So, the fast and furious Rocket and Bullet were riding fast until they overshoot toward Tasek Gelugor while we were wanted to use the Pinang Tunggal. Anyway, they managed to make u turn and rejoined the group. From there, we headed toward Pinang Tunggal, Tikam Batu. Short rest at tikam batu and we managed to reach Pantai merdeka ~9:15am. Waited for the rest to arrive and ready to head back for breakfast. We stopped by at one of the stall ~5km from Pantai Merdeka as it is the nearest and only stall selling roti canai at 9.50am. But, don’t under estimate the stall, they served very good roti canai and Nescafe tarik. After the breakfast, it was getting very hot even it is only 10,20am. We decided we go through the shortest route back via Penaga and reached KHTP at ~ 12.15pm.

Just another Thursday ride, but............

It is just our regular Thursday Tokun ride, but something special on yesterday. we met or i should say saw her for the 1st time. Who's that girl? no other than the most popuplar female cyclish cum blogger, Jane Lim.
Didn't manage to say hi or chat a few words, she was on the way down and we were on the way up. The truth is infact we didn't anticipate she will be there since we started the weekly ride almost 9 months back, we never meet her. The other thing is we were not able to recognized her face where she was with helmet. So, her identity is her special pink color bike that made us aware that's her, Jane

Cool......

1st May--Nibong Tebal ride update

1st May, we decided to try the NT Jamboree trail by ourselves base on the map provided by the organizer am with guidance from friend that familiar around that area. Only a few members available on 1st May, TH, Wooi, PC, Mr. Smile, Halim, Albert and CK. Halim and another friend (can’t recall the name) joined from half way. We departed from OZE around 7.20am as waited for Mr Wooi.(OT on Thursday nite). From, tambun, we were riding toward Nibong Tebal and suddenly we cut into the plantation and I just heard that’s the jamboree trail. We passed through “reban ayam” and headed uphill but after riding through the trail for about 20minutes, we headed to “jalan mati”. We have to ride down and headed toward another direction, this time. We think it is the right trail. The trail was very technical and full of rocks. It is not very steep but I can sure some area, you need to push. Continue to ride with few stops along the way as the trail getting tougher and tougher. Furthermore, TH’s was having issue on the gear. Finally, we reached the DH section and cruised through the section. We decided not to go further for the rest of NT Jamboree trail as some members need the early break for sembahyang We stopped for breakfast before we headed back to Tambun via Jawi Golf club. We reached OZE at around 10.15 with total distance about 47km.
